Producer Sue Virtue will defend "Sherlock" against CBS.

"Sherlock" season 3 hasn't even aired yet that CBS intends to redo it as an north-american show (good luck matching up to it by the way, especially with a title like that, "Elementary" -Sherlock did not actually said the famous "Elementary, my dear Watson" in the Canon, so that's not off to a good start). As the creators of "Elementary" had previously contacted Sue Virtue, the producer of "Sherlock", in hope of obtaining the rights to remake the show the CBS way, one can really say it's not a coincidence.

However its producer, Sue Virtue, said that she will defend her series because, even though she's not against the concept of a new modern-days Sherlock, she won't let CBS steal the original ideas and creation of her baby -settings, modified characters, clothing... Oh, by the way, "Elementary" will take place in New York, how not in 221B Baker Street, London, ENGLAND... Why can't they just stick to Dr House? (By the way, Dr House is already kind of a Holmes' remake -and Dr "House" does sounds better than Dr "Home").

If CBS makes up to the challenge, we will end up with another Sherlock series, which is always good. Having witnessed previous murders of wonderful movies by north-americans remakers, I sincerely doubt it. I feel like CBS doesn't respect Art enough to allow this brilliant series into the States -doesn't everyone deserves access to a truly clever show once in a while? If CBS isn't clever enough to understand that the blossoming success of "Sherlock" relies on true appreciation of the Canon and not on mere greed, how could it really make a good "remake"? Moreover, who else than the British could render accurately such a British symbol?

Yes, I am biased -totaly pissed off actually. I truly believe "Sherlock" is almost a TV miracle -the reunion of cool music, great script, awesome acting, innovative montage- and that's rare enough to just rest for a while in front of the TV and appreciate it. Since the CBS situation arose, I feel like I'm at a concert of my favourite band, and they play wonderfully, but suddenly a grating noise arises, and it's a very bad singer trying to steal the show -or like I'm in a movie theater, enjoying a great film, but suddenly someone loudly answers their phone.

So I will give "Elementary" the benefit of the doubt, as I'm always in for more (good) Sherlock, but I will despise its creators if it turns out that they're really doing it just for cash. And as they actually don't care, the sole thing I can really do about this situation is advertising "Sherlock" before "Elementary" arrives and gets favoured advertising by the USA -and give people still unaware of it a chance to watch good TV for a change.
