SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE AND "THE CANON"
A. C. Doyle was born the 26th of June 1944 and was the very first Holmes fanwritter. He is so famous that people actually refer to his work as "the Canon" and many of them prefer to base their own fanwork on his writtings than on the actual facts. Some even believe he actually invented the whole Sherlock Holmes stories and that they were so successfull Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson consequently popped into life. But we all know that's crazy, do we?

However, that brings out a very interesting question: how did Mr. Doyle came to write about Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson years before they had actually been born? This is an appealling mistery, but not of those Mr. Holmes can't solve; unfortunately, he feels bored by the subject and we had to ask scientists to complicate -sorry, explicate- the thing for us. They therefore wrote very interesting papers on the matter and, even though the war they started in the process to determine who is right about it has still not come to an end in many of the Alternate Universes We Know And Will Know Of, the explanation for this quirk was eventually established.

Sir Doyle wrote 56 short stories and 4 novels considered "Canonical" about S. Holmes, as can be seen in the following list.
